In traditional aviation headsets, damping cups are responsible for attenuating noise. This solution is effective but not without flaws. To dampen the acoustic wave, the screen must have the right thickness, and this results in an increase in weight. In the case of lightweight headphones, only a small part of the entrance to the ear canal is shielded.

Thanks to this, we can increase the screening layer without significant weight lifting and more effectively isolate the ear membrane from outside noise. Unfortunately, the large diversity in the construction of the auditory canal in individuals does not allow to make universal earbuds with the appropriate level of damping, and even if they will be available in several sizes. Also using the so-called memory foam we are not able to significantly improve the soundproofing of this element. This problem can be solved only by made-to-measur earbuds "to size" based on the previously collected cast.

That is why we chose this solution when designing the NC-400U model, as it is the only one that guarantees an appropriate level of attenuation in lightweight mobile headphones. However, made-to-measure earbuds are hard to connect with a traditional membrane speaker - it is simply too big for such a system. In this case, the solution turned out to be a new type of transducers called Balanced Armature (BA). Their high efficiency, and small dimensions perfectly harmonize with the system based on acoustic signal transmission via a acoustic tube, at the end of which is a made-to-measure earplug.

NC-400U headphones in the field of electrical parameters are not different from the standard headsets. The balanced armature drivers have an impedance matching the standard on-board installations (300 OHm mono and 150 Ohm stereo), and the mounted microphone in combination with our latest preamplifier will ensure full compatibility with the majority of third party headsets. The NC-400U model also has a built-in volume control, mono-stereo switch, and two 3.5mm jack sockets for external audio sources, e.g. telephone, mp3, GPS, or an external Bluetooth module in the set that allows pairing of headphones with other devices using this communication standard. The NC-400U headphones are equipped with a standard pair of PJ connectors.
